As you know all animals, like us, come in many different shapes and sizes even within the same breeds. For this reason an accurate measurement is vital.  We need the length along the animals back, from the bottom of his/her neck to where God attatched the tail.  We also need to know the fullness of his/her barrel or fullest measurement around the tummy.   For larger breeds the size of the neck is also important.  A large male Great Dane is fuller through the chest/neck  than a full grown but smaller female.
